I’ve said this before and it’s worth repeating…. Hal Finney’s idea has been tried and the government shut it down. Technically anyone could create the same thing using gold coins today, except the government wont allow it.

The unique thing about bitcoin is instead of repeating the failures and mistakes of the past (which this article mostly recommends) it provides a new means for making payments in a way that can’t easily be shut down.
